THE LOOKING
GLASS
When you look into the mirror, what do you see? The true answer is… it depends. Truth and perception are distant cousins. One is based on what is and the other is based on what we believe.
There is a bible verse that says to think on things that are lovely, true, of good report and praiseworthy. Sounds great, right? But what do we do when what we see, hear and experience isn’t so lovely?
What would it take to remain aware of the beautiful “who we are”, when “what we see and experience” says differently?
So, who are we? I mean, that pure essence of ourselves without interference from or influence by the world around us.
Who are you, that true untouched essence of your soul? What gives you joy? What infuriates you? What do you treasure most?
Are you living your life as a melody played from the impressions of the actions of others? Are you living out your own dream or the dream of others? Have your past disappointments become your present-day
mirror?
What would it look like to release yourself from the sorrows of yesterday’s hurts? What would it look like to rediscover and fully express that beginning, God-given spark of life that is you? What would it look like if, each day was
a concerto written and played by you?
Close your eyes and take a deep breath, exhale, then open your eyes. I invite you to take a second glance into the looking glass. With fresh eyes tell me, what do you see? How does that resonate with
you?
