The Growth Conundrum
Have you ever been confused by the feelings you feel when you are trying to do something new? Have you noticed that growth can sometimes feel like an
emotional nuclear bomb?
As human beings, feelings of growth, while welcomed, can open us up and leave us feeling vulnerable, raw, and exposed. While we are excited about the
new opportunities in our lives, they often come with mixed feelings of joy and anxiety.
Although we say we “want it all,” our heart still rumbles at the thought of truly facing the unknown and receiving the unimaginable. In addition, the
inability for us to control things like exponential growth, may stop us before we even get started, causing quite the conundrum.
What if we chose to remain curious about who we are becoming and chose to treat our accompanying heart pangs as welcomed travelers on our journey to
the unknown? What if we honored our growth by choosing to remain open to the next chapter of our lives with a peaceful assurance that the same things that excite us can temporarily terrify us?
What if we could imagine ourselves as fields of land and our growth as the till that furrows through our expectations, beliefs, fears, and joy making
room for our precious dream seeds? What if we chose to see our growth as a beautiful conundrum, a necessary uncomfortableness that we could sit with in deep, quiet faith? What if the goal of growth isn’t to uproot the stability of the familiar parts of us but rather to make space for a new shoot of endless possibilities to grow from within each of us?
Instead of stopping and hesitating at the grandeur of the next opportunity, what if we chose to stay the course, while humbly, reverently trusting in
the unseen work of the day?
How does that resonate with you?
